The House of Representatives passed today a resolution honoring slain El Monte educator Bobby Salcedo and expressing that the U.S. government should continue to assist the Mexican government in fighting drug cartels and curbing violence.
The resolution, sponsored by Rep. Judy Chu, D-El Monte, was passed without objection.
…The resolution describes him as a “rising star” who “sought to chart a better course for his entire community.” It also says “Whereas the violence in Mexico has historically involved disputes between warring drug cartels, Mr. Salcedo’s tragic death is the result of the recent and pervasive surge in violence against innocent bystanders.”
